Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday, will launch health coverage for all senior citizens aged 70 and above under the government’s flagship Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
In a post on social media, Modi announced that this historic moment would take place on Dhanwantari Jayanti, the God of Ayurved.
Those belonging to families already enrolled in AB PM-JAY will receive an additional top-up cover of up to Rs 5 lakh per year, while other senior citizens aged 70 and above will get a cover of Rs 5 lakh.
This will greatly benefit the elderly population by ensuring access to quality healthcare and reducing financial burden on their families. The expansion of Ayushman Bharat is a step towards achieving the goal of universal health coverage for all citizens, regardless of their age or income.
This initiative by the government showcases their commitment towards improving the healthcare sector and providing affordable and accessible healthcare services to all.
