Ahead of Diwali, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Nagpur Division seized significant quantities of adulterated food items as part of a festive food safety campaign under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The special operation involved sampling common festival foods like dairy products, edible oils, flours, and sweets.
The FDA collected 146 samples of flour products, seizing 13,240 kg valued at Rs. 18.5 lakh, along with 63 samples of edible oils, leading to an 8,886 kg seizure worth Rs. 14.5 lakh. Ghee, sweets, and milk products were also targeted, with a total of 1,174 kg of ghee worth Rs. 4.8 lakh and 688 kg of sweets valued at Rs. 1.1 lakh confiscated.
