Two stabbing incidents on Wednesday put city police on high alert. Abu Hamza Jalauddin Shaikh, a labourer from Bihar, was attacked by Majid Ali Qadar Ali and his accomplice, Golu Tauseef, after a drunken brawl near Jai Bheem Chowk in north Nagpur. Police reported that Hamza, who was addicted to alcohol, got into a quarrel with Majid and Golu while buying liquor at a wine shop. Later, Majid and Golu saw Hamza sitting across the road, where Majid stabbed him repeatedly. Hamza later succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Mayo Hospital. Majid has been arrested by Pachpaoli police, while Golu remains at large.
In a separate incident near Cotton Market Square, a beggar named Roopchand Madavi was stabbed by another beggar for unknown reasons. Ganeshpeth police are still searching for the suspect. Madavi is currently in critical condition at the Government Medical College and Hospital.
