Amidst the ongoing election code of conduct, a shocking incident unfolded in the Nagpur district as thousands of Aadhaar cards were found discarded beneath the Vena River bridge. The discovery has raised significant concerns among local residents and officials alike.
The incident came to light when Sharif Chand Sheikh, a resident of the Hingna area, was passing under the bridge at Mauja Raipur on the Outer Ring Road. He noticed numerous Aadhaar cards scattered across the ground and promptly informed the Hingna police station. Officers quickly arrived at the scene to confiscate the cards, which were discovered in envelopes alongside various other government documents.
Upon inspection, the police found not only Aadhaar cards but also a mail sack and a bag from the postal department, prompting questions about whether postal workers had improperly discarded these important documents rather than delivering them to the intended recipients. Additionally, charred remains of some documents were discovered nearby, further complicating the situation.
Most of the recovered documents belonged to residents of Wanadongri, who had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of their Aadhaar cards by post. This incident has raised serious doubts regarding the operational efficiency of postal department officials and employees, highlighting potential lapses in the delivery process.
Local authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the abandoned documents to determine how such a significant breach occurred and to ensure accountability.
