To accommodate the increased passenger traffic expected during the festive season, the Nagpur Division of Central Railway has implemented a series of measures to enhance safety, crowd management, and passenger convenience at Nagpur Railway Station. These arrangements aim to provide a safe, comfortable, and efficient travel experience for all passengers.
Below are the key measures in place:
1. Deployment of Additional Staff: More than 100 additional personnel from the Commercial and Railway Protection Force (RPF) departments have been deployed to manage the crowd. These staff members are on duty around the clock to ensure smooth operations and maintain safety at the station.
2. Extra Ticket Counters for Tatkal Booking Assistance: To streamline Tatkal bookings, six additional PRS (Passenger Reservation System) counters and seven UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) counters have been set up. These extra counters will expedite ticketing services, minimizing wait times for passengers.
3. ATVM Facilitation (Assistance for Ticket Vending Machines): Facilitators are stationed at all Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) to help passengers unfamiliar with the technology, which reduces queues at ticket counters and makes ticketing more accessible.
4. Hourly Crowd Monitoring and Suspension of Platform Ticket Sales: The station management team conducts hourly crowd monitoring. Additionally, platform ticket sales have been temporarily suspended to restrict platform access to ticket-holding passengers only, thus controlling crowd levels on platforms.
5. Dedicated Holding Area on the West Side: A dedicated holding area with a capacity for 500 passengers has been established on the west side of the station. This area helps prevent platform overcrowding, providing a comfortable waiting space for passengers.
6. 24/7 Crowd Management Oversight: Officers have been assigned to monitor crowd management around the clock, ensuring prompt responses to any challenges and maintaining a safe environment throughout the station
7. Additional Train Services and Special Trains:To meet the increased passenger demand, 13 special trains from Nagpur have been introduced, with a total of over 7,400 additional services available to key destinations.
8. *Extra Inquiry Counters for Passenger Assistance:* Additional inquiry counters have been set up to provide passengers with timely information on train schedules, platform changes, and other travel-related inquiries, improving the overall travel experience.
9. Display of Informational Posters: Key informational posters, containing train details and station guidelines, are displayed at prominent locations throughout the station to assist passengers in finding necessary information with ease.
10. Enhanced Security with RPF and Dog Squad: To ensure safety, the RPF, along with dog squads, conducts regular security checks to detect and prevent the entry of prohibited items such as firecrackers and explosives.
