A massive real estate scam has been uncovered in Nagpur, where a local couple, now dubbed the ‘Bunty-Babli’ of the city, allegedly defrauded multiple buyers of over Rs. 3.7 crore through a series of deceptive land sales. The accused, Anand Narayanrao Khobragade and his wife Sarada Anand Khobragade, who serve as directors of ARMORS Developers Pvt. Ltd., reportedly orchestrated these fraudulent property deals from October 2022 to November 5, 2024.
The scam came to light when Asim Naved, a 54-year-old resident of RMS Colony, Anant Nagar, Gitikhadan, filed a complaint with the Pachpaoli Police Station. Naved alleged that the Khobragrades promised to sell him Plot No. 116, Survey No. 136/A and 136/1B in Ranala, Kamptee, for ₹1 crore. However, after collecting Rs 1.2 crore, the couple allegedly failed to transfer ownership or complete a final sale deed. Instead, they reportedly kept the funds for personal gain, breaching the agreement.
The allegations extend further: when workers arrived to mark the plot, they were reportedly met with abusive language and death threats from the couple. When Naved demanded clarification, the Khobragrades allegedly demanded an additional Rs 1 crore.
Two other victims have come forward with similar claims. The couple reportedly lured M/s Virani and Company Financial Services into a deal for Plot No. 117, collecting ₹1.3 crore, and Virendrasingh Shekhawat for Plot No. 118, extracting ₹1.2 crore, without providing land possession or final sale deeds.
The police, after a detailed investigation, have registered a case against the accused under sections 316(2), 316(5), 318(4), and 3(5) of the BNS. Further investigations are ongoing to uncover more details in this high-profile case.
