In a startling turn of events, a theft suspect managed to escape from custody at Ajni Police Station on Wednesday morning, causing alarm within the Nagpur police force. The suspect, identified as Irfan Shamshad Ansari (20), a resident of Ambenagar near Lal High School, Pardi, was apprehended later in the afternoon following an intense and swift search operation.
According to initial reports, Ansari had been taken into custody by Ajni Police the previous evening on charges of vehicle theft, detained under Section 303 3(5) of the BNS. Before his interrogation could take place, Ansari allegedly managed to break out of the lockup early on Wednesday. Authorities have refrained from revealing specifics about the escape, hinting at possible security lapses within the station.
The escape and swift recapture have highlighted gaps in police station protocols, prompting a review to bolster security measures and prevent future incidents of this nature.
