The State Election Commission will set up 1,00,427 polling stations in the state for the coming Assembly elections on November 20. The maximum number of polling stations is in Pune – 8,462, followed by Mumbai Suburbs – 7,579, Nashik – 4,922 and Nagpur – 4,631.
In an attempt to improve voting in urban areas polling stations have been marked in many housing complexes and in rural and tribal areas in places where the voters can reach easily without problems.
In most of the polling centres facilities for Persons with Disabilities have been ensured.
The number of polling stations has been increased in the tribal and difficult regions, in Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nandurbar, Dhule and Amravati districts. Facilities of Voters Centre, Helplines, Information and instruction banners will be made for the voters.
