Nagpur, November 9: In an effort to boost voter turnout, Nagpur’s “Votathon” rally saw enthusiastic participation from citizens pledging to vote in upcoming elections and encouraging others to join. Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal urged youth to lead by example, stressing the importance of civic duty.
The rally, held at Yashwant Stadium under the Election Commission’s SVEEP initiative, featured addresses by Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary and District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar, who highlighted voting as a national duty and set a 75% turnout goal.
Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad, Vinayak Mahamuni, led a collective pledge to vote. Additional motivational messages were delivered by Election observers Sunil Kumar and Pawan Kumar Sinha, expressing hopes for record-breaking participation in Nagpur.
The rally saw active engagement from local officials, government and private sector representatives, and citizens of all ages. Participants in the 5-km race received awards, with Anjali Madavi and Gaurav Khadkatkar leading in the women’s and men’s categories, respectively.
District sports officer and other dignitaries were present, reinforcing the importance of voting as a fundamental democratic act.
