In a bid to encourage voter participation in the upcoming Assembly Election, the Industries Department has announced that all establishments under its jurisdiction will observe a holiday on November 20, the day of the election.
According to a notification issued by the Department of Industries, Energy, Labour, and Mines, employees working in industrial establishments, businesses, and other entities under the department will receive a day off to cast their votes.
This mandate aligns with Section 135(b) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, which grants voters the right to a holiday on polling day without any deduction in wages. The directive requires all corporations, industrial groups, and companies to comply, with the department cautioning that any failure to grant employees leave on election day will result in appropriate action against the violators.
