The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has initiated a cleanliness drive across playgrounds in all ten city zones, scheduled to run until November 16. The campaign aims for thorough cleaning and maintenance to enhance the usability of these spaces for the community.
Following the monsoon season, weeds and unwanted vegetation have rapidly grown in open grounds, becoming breeding sites for mosquitoes and diminishing the aesthetic appeal. To address this, NMC officials have prioritized playgrounds, ensuring they remain accessible and enjoyable for citizens.
On the first day, the NMC team cleaned 42 playgrounds, removing weeds and overgrown grass to create a tidier environment. The cleaning efforts were led by Zonal Officers, supported by Cleanliness Inspectors.
In Laxmi Nagar Zone, specific sites like the grounds in West Samarth Nagar, Hanuman Temple ground in Ujjwal Nagar, Indian Gymkhana, Dhantoli, and the basketball ground in Bajaj Nagar were included. Other areas, including Sita Nagar Dhawad College, Hanuman Mandir-Pande Layout, and Futala Lake ground at Dharampeth Layout, were also cleaned.
Additional grounds covered include Priyadarshani Colony, Civil Lines, the garden at Gandhi Square, Sadar, the ground behind Sule School in Dhantoli, Yoga Bhavan, Mahalaxmi Nagar Square Ground, and spaces in Hanuman Nagar, Chakradhar Nagar, Shatabdi Nagar, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Udyan, Kukde Layout, and near Manavta High School and Lakshaved Ground at Arvind Society in Narendra Nagar.
The NMC’s drive reflects its commitment to creating safer, cleaner community spaces.
