In a significant security operation on the Howrah-Mumbai Geetanjali Express, vigilant ticket-checking staff seized 2 kilos of Ganja from a passenger, thanks to their sharp observation and quick response. The officials, Ajay Rahate and Satish Ghorpade, both Deputy Chief Ticket Inspectors based in Nagpur, made the discovery on November 13, 2024, during routine ticket checks on train no. 12860.
This operation was in line with recent instructions from Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Dilip Singh, who had urged all Train Ticket Examiners (TTE) to enhance vigilance not only in ticket inspections but also in addressing passenger grievances and monitoring for unauthorized vendors and other irregularities to improve security and service standards across the railway division.
During the inspection, Rahate and Ghorpade noticed a passenger acting suspiciously. Upon conducting a thorough search, they found 2 kilos of cannabis concealed with a makeshift belt around the passenger’s abdomen. The suspect was immediately apprehended and handed over to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) for further investigation.
