In a significant move to support students preparing for competitive exams, the government is set to introduce an initiative aimed at reducing students’ reliance on private coaching—a common barrier for those from low-income backgrounds. By 2029, this effort is expected to benefit approximately 12.5 lakh candidates across the country, providing them with free digital resources, AI-driven learning tools, and partnerships with top educational institutions. This initiative seeks to make exam preparation more accessible, especially for students in underserved areas.
Education Ministry to Discuss Key Agenda with States
The Ministry of Education will convene with state representatives in a two-day consultation starting Tuesday to discuss this agenda as part of the National Education Policy 2020 implementation. Alongside competitive exam preparation, topics such as accreditation and digital learning expansion will also be addressed with officials from states and union territories.
SATHEE Portal for Competitive Exam Preparation Launched
In line with this vision, the National Council of Education Research and Training recently launched the SATHEE portal, designed to support students in preparing for competitive exams free of cost. The portal offers access to a range of resources, including high-quality content from IITs and AIIMS, AI-powered learning tools, and digital resources on DTH platforms, furthering the government’s goal of democratizing access to exam preparation.
Targeting Global Rankings and Digital Expansion
The government aims for a 90% accreditation rate, aspiring to have at least 10 Indian higher education institutions among the world’s top 200. Additionally, the agenda includes plans to expand digital learning, with a goal to enroll two crore students in SWAYAM courses over the next five years.
