Voting is the cornerstone of democracy, and it’s crucial that we exercise this right to shape the future of our communities and country. By casting our ballots, we’re not only choosing our representatives but also influencing the policies that impact our daily lives. Every single vote matters; in fact, history has shown us that even one vote can be a game-changer.
Vidarbha Taxpayers Association (VTA) accordingly highlighted that voting is a powerful tool, and it’s up to us to use it to create a better future for ourselves and generations to come; therefore voting must be done by every valid voter without fail.
Shrawan Kumar Malu – President VTA said, voting is crucial in a democratic society, and by exercising your right to vote, you’re contributing to a healthier democracy and shaping the future of your community. The head of every family must ensure that everyone from his family has voted, likewise every trader & industrialists must make sure of voting by their staff. An increased percentage of votes will be a welcoming sign.
Tejinder Singh Renu – secretary of VTA requested voters to avoid NOTA (none of the above), a well-intentioned idea but it’s a waste of a precious vote because, even if NOTA receives the most votes, the candidate with the next highest number of votes still wins. This means that NOTA doesn’t have any direct impact on the election outcome. The Supreme Court introduced NOTA in 2013 to protect voter secrecy and allow voters to express dissent against contesting candidates.
Renu argued that despite its good intentions, NOTA hasn’t led to increased voter participation or better candidate selection. NOTA has barely managed to collect 1% votes, and has become a “toothless tiger” with no real consequences for candidates. Even if a majority of voters choose NOTA, the election result remains unchanged.
VTA requests for your vote on November 20 to boost voter turnout and strengthen our society. Every vote counts, and together we can create a better future for all.
