A 22-year-old worker from Jharkhand, Mohammad Durud Alam, tragically lost his life in a workplace accident at Eden Greenz Hotel in Old Kamptee on November 12. Alam was unloading decorative materials from a truck in the hotel premises around 6:00 p.m. when the driver, allegedly speeding and driving carelessly, crashed the vehicle into a gate pillar. The impact caused the pillar to collapse, pinning Alam beneath it.
Alam, a resident of Narenpura in Sahibganj, Jharkhand, was immediately taken to Asha Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead shortly after arrival.
Acting on a complaint from Alam’s relative, Mukhtar Banaruddin Sheikh, 44, the Kamptee Police have registered a case against the truck driver, identified as Amrit Singh, also known as Happy Majorsing Khaira, 24, from Babadeep Singh Nagar, Teka Naka, Kapil Nagar, Nagpur. Charges have been filed under IPC Sections 106 and 281 and Motor Vehicle Act Sections 184(3) and 181. Further investigations are on.
