Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar has directed all Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) to carry out stringent inspections of private and Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses, as well as other vehicles entering Nagpur from neighboring states.
Daily reports on these checks are mandatory, ensuring constant oversight.
In a state-wide meeting with RTOs, Bhimanwar emphasized the importance of maintaining smooth and fair election processes. Officers were instructed to remain within their jurisdictions during the election period and to focus on vehicle monitoring at key border checkpoints. Special attention is being given to buses, with thorough inspections mandated to prevent potential misuse.
To enhance these efforts, Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspectors have been deployed to assist Motor Vehicle Inspectors. Inspection squads also include personnel from the State Excise Department and local police to strengthen monitoring operations.
Nagpur RTO has been tasked with overseeing inspections at four critical check posts: Deori, Khawasa, Kandri, and Keljhar. These measures aim to ensure strict compliance with election-related protocols and maintain public trust in the process.
