Nagpur experienced its coldest day of the season as the minimum temperature plummeted to 11.7°C on Wednesday morning, making it the coldest district in Vidarbha along with Gondia, which recorded 11.9°C.
The drop in temperature is attributed to strong chilly winds from the north, causing Nagpur’s minimum temperature to be 2.9°C below the seasonal average. Similarly, Gondia’s reading of 11.9°C marked a significant dip, while Bhramapuri recorded 12.3°C, a deviation of -2.7°C from normal.
Across Vidarbha, all districts have now reported minimum temperatures below 15°C, with departures ranging from 1.1°C to 3.5°C below normal. Meteorological officials attribute the rapid cooling to clear skies, which prevent heat retention during the night.
This marks the onset of winter’s chill in the region, with further dips in temperature expected in the coming days.
