The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), part of the Ministry of Railways, is working on a major redevelopment of Nagpur Railway Station in Maharashtra. Collaborating with the Nagpur Division of Central Railways, the Rs 487.77 crore project aims to upgrade the station’s infrastructure while maintaining its historic character, ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience for passengers.
Construction Updates
East Side: Construction is progressing well, with work underway on a new basement to improve parking facilities.
West Side: On the west side, basement construction is also moving forward. The work is being completed in two phases to minimise disruption. Phase I has been finished, and Phase II is now in full swing. As part of Phase II, the Monumental National Flag (Tiranga), located in the construction zone, will be relocated to a more prominent position. Additionally, the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) on the west side will be shifted to the southern side near Platform 1’s exit gate.
RLDA is committed to reducing passenger inconvenience during the redevelopment. The station will feature better parking, upgraded amenities, and modernised facilities, all while retaining the historic essence of the station building.
Phased Execution Plan
The redevelopment is being carried out in phases to ensure that train operations continue without disruption, allowing passengers to travel with minimal inconvenience.
