Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) Nuisance Detection Squad has launched a campaign to curb activities like littering, spitting, and the use of plastic bags thinner than 51 microns. On Thursday, the squad took action in 45 cases and collected fines amounting to Rs 28,900.
Among the registered cases, nine were against hawkers for littering in their surrounding areas, with fines of Rs 400 imposed on each. Additionally, two individuals were fined Rs 100 each for littering.
Seventeen cases were filed against individuals for obstructing public roads, resulting in a total fine of Rs 18,500. In addition, 13 other cases were registered, and Rs 2,600 was collected in fines.
The squad also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Cafe Koriyano for littering on the nearby road. Shyamsundar Residency in the Hanuman Nagar zone was fined Rs 10,000 for storing building materials on the road. Samarth Kite Shop in the Gandhibag zone was penalized Rs 5,000 for using plastic bags, while Rizwan Stores and Bhisikar Plastic were each fined Rs 5,000 for the same offense.
