The Hindi film Jhanjharpur, starring Nagpur’s own Gaurav Ambare and Aishwarya Manohar, is set to premiere at the prestigious 30th Kolkata International Film Festival, to be held from December 4 to December 11. The festival will feature 200 films from national and international platforms.
Jhanjharpur has earned a spot among the top 12 Indian films competing in the National Competition on Indian Language section for 2024. The film, written and directed by Naveen Chandra Ganesh and produced by Shashank Saw under the Saaw Films banner, celebrates the folk art form Launda Naach from Bihar.
Gaurav and Aishwarya have been lauded for their exceptional performances. Despite Marathi being their mother tongue, they masterfully adapted to Hindi with Bihari-Bhojpuri dialect influences. Gaurav began his acting journey with Nagpur’s theatre groups before training at the Bharatendu Natya Academy in Lucknow, while Aishwarya refined her skills at the B VoC Theatre Department of VMV College, Nagpur.
Jhanjharpur has already made waves on national and international film festival circuits, bringing pride to Nagpur and shining a spotlight on its talented artists.
