The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has extended the deadline for citizens to pay pending property tax for the financial year 2024-25 until December 31, offering a final opportunity to clear dues.
Out of a total of Rs 900 crore in pending property taxes, only 2.60 lakh property owners out of 6.67 lakh in Nagpur have paid their dues as of June, availing a 10% discount for timely payment. The remaining 4.08 lakh property owners can still benefit from the 10% discount if they settle their taxes by the extended deadline.
Property owners can pay their dues online via the NMC website or by visiting their respective zone offices. This year, over one lakh citizens paid a total of Rs 60 crore in property taxes online, collectively receiving a discount of Rs 5.40 crore.
NMC has warned that property owners failing to pay their pending taxes by December 31 will face a penalty of 2% per month on the outstanding amount.
