The Sakkardara police have initiated an investigation into a fraud case involving the director of a company accused of duping a student by promising medical admission abroad. The case was registered on Friday against Dr. Atul Ramesh Ingole (38) of Shrikrishna Nagar, Hudkeshwar, and Venkata Reddy from Hyderabad.
According to the complaint, the accused, associated with PeopleLink Placement Private Limited, allegedly promised to secure medical admissions overseas. Venkata Reddy, posing as the CEO of Columbus Center University in the U.S., convinced a 23-year-old student to enroll in an MBBS course, charging Rs 21.35 lakh for the admission.
The student reportedly approached Dr. Ingole in January 2023 but was denied admission despite repeated assurances. When the student demanded a refund, the accused refused, citing American university regulations.
After two years of delay and evasive responses, the student filed a complaint at the Sakkardara police station. Senior Police Inspector Anil Takande confirmed the case involves significant monetary transactions and said an investigation is underway.
