A family of seven returning from a wedding ceremony sustained serious injuries when their auto-rickshaw was hit by a speeding car in a late-night accident near Nandi Square, Yashodharanagar.
The incident occurred at around 12:30 am when Farha Naz Mohammed Javed Sheikh (33), a resident of Bilal Nagar, Majri, along with her family, was traveling home in an auto-rickshaw (registration no. MH 49 E 5889). As they approached the road in front of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, a car (registration no. MH 40 BL 2702) collided with their vehicle at high speed. The impact caused the auto-rickshaw to overturn, leaving all passengers injured.
The injured include Farha’s husband Javed Sheikh (47), her mother-in-law Khairunnisa (58), her son Mohammed Zaid (18), her daughters Ajeeba Naz (10) and Fatima (11), and her niece Saifi Naz (10). Passersby promptly rushed them to Mayo Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
Following Farha’s statement, Yashodharanagar Police have registered a case against the unknown driver.
