The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Nagpur, at the Shri Shri Radha Gopinath Temple, organized a Maha Sankirtan with heartfelt prayers for the safety and well-being of Hindus in Bangladesh, particularly ISKCON devotees. The program was conducted under the guidance of Shrila Loknath Swami Maharaj, a beloved disciple of ISKCON Founder-Acharya A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Shrila Prabhupada, along with ISKCON Nagpur President Sachchidananda Prabhu.
ISKCON Nagpur Vice President Brajendra Tanay Das, along with other devotees, chanted the Hare Krishna Mahamantra:Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare,Hare Ram Hare Ram Ram Ram Hare Hare, with great devotion and intensity. Special prayers were also offered to Lord Narasimha, the remover of obstacles, through the singing of His Aarti. A large number of devotees gathered to participate in this sacred event.
Dr. Shyamsundar Sharma, spokesperson for ISKCON Nagpur, shared that this program was simultaneously conducted in over 1,100 ISKCON temples across 156 countries, including India. The one-day event was unique as it transcended time zones( as it did not see any sunset)—when the program concluded in one country, it began in another, ensuring continuous prayers around the world. The global event took place on December 1, 2024.
Drawing inspiration from Queen Draupadi’s example, Dr. Sharma said, “Just as Draupadi surrendered to Krishna when her husband, King Dhritarashtra, and Bhishma Pitamah could not help her, She raised her hands in devotion, calling upon Lord Govinda and Madhava for protection and she was protected. Through this Sankirtan Yagna, we trust that a positive resolution will emerge soon, as the power of collective prayer is immense, and Lord Krishna always listens.”
Other devotees who contributed to the kirtan to help Temple Commander Jai Girdhari Prabhu included Venu Gopal Prabhu, Amal Bhaav Prabhu, Karun Gaurang Prabhu, and Prasanna Jeet Prabhu. Accompanying them on instruments such as the Mridang and Kartal were Bhakt Krishna Prabhu, Anand Kirtan Prabhu, Sankirtan Sevak Prabhu, and Prathamesh Prabhu, among others.
