Actor Vikrant Massey, currently riding a wave of professional success, has stunned fans with the announcement of his retirement from acting. The 37-year-old actor, whose latest release Sabarmati Express is performing strongly at the box office, shared his decision in an emotional Instagram post on Monday morning.
“The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal,” Vikrant wrote. “I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor.”
The actor revealed that his final projects will be Yaar Jigri and Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, slated for release before his planned retirement in 2025. Addressing his fans, Vikrant added, “So coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many a years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between.” He signed off with, “Forever indebted.”
The announcement left fans in shock, with many expressing disbelief and urging him to reconsider. Comments poured in, with one fan writing, “Why would you do that? There are hardly any actors like you. We need some good cinema.” Another asked, “Is everything alright? That’s so surprising for the fans. Vikrant’s journey in the entertainment industry began with the TV show Dhoom Machao Dhoom. He gained widespread recognition in Balika Vadhu (2009) before transitioning to films, debuting with Lootera in 2013. Over the years, he impressed audiences with his performances in A Death in the Gunj, Ginny Weds Sunny, Haseen Dilruba, Love Hostel, and 12th Fail.
