The Central Railway Nagpur Division has received approval from the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Nagpur, for the closure of Span 2 of the Ghat Road Railway Bridge (Bridge No. 835/1), effective from December 3, 2024, most probably till the end of December. This closure is essential for advancing the ongoing rehabilitation work to ensure the bridge’s structural integrity and long-term reliability.
The rehabilitation of Span 2 will involve round-the-clock work, with all activities being meticulously planned and executed to meet the stipulated timeline. The local authorities have granted permission for the road closure on the condition that work is carried out on a war footing to minimize inconvenience to commuters and ensure timely completion.
The Ghat Road Railway Bridge serves as a vital link between Dhantoli and Moksha Dham Road, and its rehabilitation is being undertaken with RCC in-turning of arches and jacketing of abutments and piers. With three spans already completed, the focus is now on completing the remaining spans efficiently while maintaining traffic flow through alternate routes and spans.
Central Railway appeals to the residents of Nagpur for their cooperation during this period of intensive work and assures them of its commitment to delivering a safer and more robust infrastructure for the city’s benefit.
