Apurva Dahake, a Nagpur resident and a scholar at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, has been honored with the Gandhian Young Technological Innovation (GYTI) 2023 Award. She received the award from Dr. Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, at a ceremony held in New Delhi.
The GYTI Awards, organized annually by SRISTI in collaboration with the Honey Bee Network, Gian, and leading academic institutions, recognize innovative student projects addressing societal challenges through science, technology, and engineering. This year, over 500 proposals were submitted, with only a select few making it through rigorous scrutiny.
Apurva’s award-winning research focuses on the development of a probe for breast cancer margin assessment, a significant contribution to healthcare innovation. She is among 11 awardees nationwide and the sole recipient from IISc, Bangalore, reflecting her exceptional talent and dedication.
Currently pursuing her Doctorate in the Department of Electronic Systems Engineering at IISc, Apurva’s academic journey has been marked by notable achievements.
During her M.Tech program, Apurva had the opportunity to work with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), further enhancing her expertise and experience.
The GYTI Awards aim to inspire young minds to create impactful solutions in fields like healthcare, agriculture, energy, and the environment. Apurva’s recognition highlights the potential of Indian students to drive technological and societal progress.
