A 38-year-old man was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his room at Shri Ganesh Lodge in the Ganeshpeth area on Thursday, December 5. The deceased has been identified as Kunal Ashok Narkhede, a resident of Jalgaon.
According to police, Kunal had checked into the lodge a few days earlier. When he failed to respond to room service calls, and a foul smell began emanating from his room, the hotel staff alerted Ganeshpeth Police.
A police team arrived promptly, forced open the door, and discovered Kunal hanging from the ceiling fan. No suicide note was found at the scene.
While the preliminary investigation suggests suicide, authorities are probing the possibility of foul play to rule out any other angles.
Ganeshpeth Police have registered a case of accidental death, and further inquiries are ongoing.
