A quick-thinking lady doctor thwarted a robbery attempt at her apartment in Laxmi Nagar late Friday night. Police have arrested a 60-year-old auto-rickshaw driver, Mahendra Nagorao Patil, from Godhani, while a search is underway for his six accomplices: Anil Sarjare, Amul Walde, Atul Verma, Anil Chhatrasingh, Rohit, and Aadesh.
The incident occurred around 11:30 PM when six robbers entered Abhinav Rajat Apartment, where Dr. Yashodhara Prasad Aparajit resides. The men first accosted the building’s watchman, snatching his mobile phone before escorting him to Dr. Aparajit’s apartment. However, when they rang her doorbell, Dr. Aparajit saw them through the peephole and refrained from opening the door.
Foiled in their attempt, the robbers released the watchman, returned his phone, and fled in an auto-rickshaw. Dr. Aparajit immediately alerted the police control room, prompting swift action by the Bajaj Nagar Police and the Crime Branch.
Led by Police Inspector Kamlakar Gaddime, the Crime Branch tracked down Mahendra Patil at the Godhani bus stop and handed him over to Bajaj Nagar Police for further investigation. A case of attempted robbery has been registered, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
