Nagpur: A police briefing for the Winter Session 2024 security arrangements was held at Shivaji Stadium, Police Headquarters, on December 14, at 1:30 PM. Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singhal addressed officers, guiding them on measures for managing potential protests, sit-ins, and marches during the session.
The session focused on ensuring proper planning for possible demonstrations and maintaining discipline, especially as information about these events spreads rapidly on social media. Special security arrangements will be made at key locations such as Raj Bhavan, Ramgiri, and MLA Residency, with march stopping points identified at Yashwant Stadium, Tekdi Road, and other major intersections.
Officers were instructed to carry batons, warm clothing, and ID cards, and each officer will receive a directory containing contact numbers and emergency protocols. Dr. Singhal emphasized a calm, sensitive approach, citing past experiences like the “Govari Khand” incident.
CCTV cameras throughout the city are linked to the Command Control Center, and drones will be deployed for surveillance. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) will focus on sensitive areas. A separate team has been organized for traffic management to ensure smooth operations.
The briefing was also attended by Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioners, and other senior officials.
