Maharashtra is likely to face the bine-chilling cold for the next four days. The extreme cold in some parts of the state is because of cold winds from northern parts of the country. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in the state.
Pune recorded a minimum temperature between 6.1 and 6.2 degrees, which is the lowest since 2018. North Maharashtra is facing a cold wave and the minimum temperature is two to six degrees below normal. Mumbai and Thane are also experiencing below normal temperature which is unusual for the districts.
Jalgaon, Ahilyanagar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Ahmednagar, Buldana, Dharashiv, Parbhani, Nanded, Akola, Amravati, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Wardha will face the cold weather for the next two days. Light rains are expected in parts of Kolhapur, Sindhudurg, and Sangli on December 20. The minimum temperature in Nashik, Malegaon, Akola, Bhandara, Brahmapuri and Gadchiroli will remain below 10 degrees Celsius.
The administration has appealed to the people to take care during the season.
