The Crime Branch’s Social Security Branch (SSB) apprehended two individuals near the Metro Station at Santra Market in Ganeshpeth on December 19, seizing 107 grams of suspected Mephedrone (MD) worth ₹10.7 lakh.
The accused, Sheikh Ashfaq alias Mastan (32) and Sheikh Akil Sheikh Khalil (37), also had a grey Burgman moped worth ₹1 lakh and two mobile phones valued at ₹20,000. The total seizure amounted to ₹11.9 lakh.
The duo allegedly procured the drugs from Mumbai for distribution in Nagpur. A case has been registered under Sections 8(c), 22(c), and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985.
Police are searching for two absconding suspects, Amir Khan Ayub Khan and Abdul Samir Abdul Sakur.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of senior officials, including Commissioner Ravinder Singhal, and involved a team led by PI Kavita Isarkar. Further investigations are underway.
