The cold wave that swept across Vidarbha and Maharashtra over the past few days is now easing. The minimum temperature is expected to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next five days. Currently, nighttime temperatures in some districts of Vidarbha are below 10 degrees Celsius, with Nagpur recording the lowest at 9.2 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
Gondia recorded a minimum temperature of 9.6 degrees Celsius, while Wardha and Bhandara observed 10.0 degrees Celsius on Thursday. Other minimum temperatures in the region included Akola at 10.9 degrees Celsius, Amravati at 11.4, Buldhana at 13.0, Brahmapuri and Gadchiroli both at 11.0, and Washim at 10.2 degrees Celsius.
The winter chill in Nagpur and Vidarbha set in from December 10, bringing colder conditions to the region. A cold wave in the northern states affected central India and Maharashtra, causing minimum temperatures to drop below 10 degrees Celsius for a week, except on December 14.
From December 11 to 13, the temperature in Nagpur ranged between 9.0 and 10.0 degrees Celsius. However, it dropped sharply to 7.0 degrees Celsius on December 15. During this period, other districts in the region also experienced temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius due to the cold wave. While the minimum temperature gradually increased afterward, it remained below 10.0 degrees Celsius.
Ahmednagar recorded the lowest temperature at 7.5 degrees Celsius, while Nashik and Pune registered 8.8 degrees Celsius and 8.9 degrees Celsius, respectively, maintaining the biting chill in the region.
