In a significant development, the Maharashtra Assembly on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution requesting the Centre to rename Pune’s Lohegaon Airport as “Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj International Airport.” The resolution, supported by all assembly members, aims to honour the revered saint and recognize his contributions to Maharashtra’s cultural, spiritual, and social heritage.
The resolution will be sent to the Civil Aviation Ministry for review and further action. Proponents of the proposal stress that renaming the airport after Sant Tukaram Maharaj would not only honor his legacy but also pay tribute to the values he upheld, showcasing Maharashtra’s rich heritage on the global stage.
