In a significant operation, the Anti-Narcotics Cell of the Nagpur Crime Branch conducted two raids on December 24, targeting shops accused of selling counterfeit Apple products. The raids, carried out in Dhantoli and Sitabuldi, led to the seizure of fake Apple accessories worth over ₹2.17 crore and the filing of cases against several individuals.
The first raid took place between 5:20 pm and 6:20 pm at NGM Mobiles near Dhanwate Chambers in Dhantoli. Acting on information provided by Mrunal Maheshchandra Agrawal, the legal advocate for Apple Inc., the police team discovered counterfeit Apple products bearing the company’s trademarked logo and labels. Goods worth ₹59,94,061 were found stocked at the shop, allegedly for sale by the owner, Navin Ahmed Shakil Ahmed, to generate personal profit. Following the discovery, a case was registered at Dhantoli Police Station under sections 349 of the BNS, 51 and 53 of the Copyright Act, and 103 and 104 of the Trademark Act.
The second raid was conducted between 6:30 pm and 11:55 pm at Rahul Marketing in Sitabuldi. Based on similar information provided by advocate Agrawal, the police uncovered counterfeit Apple accessories worth ₹1,57,13,554 at multiple shops. The accused individuals included Amit Dilipkumar Israni (Raj Mobiles), Kalyansingh Malsingh (Nagnechi Telecom), Kumari Babu Cover, Prajwal Jeevan Jarulkar (Diya Mobiles), Sunil Raheja, Jeparam Dewaram Choudhary (Shri Ramdev Mobile Accessories), Rajubhai Choudhary, and Bhimram Veeraram Choudhary (Chamunda Mobiles).
Cases against the accused were registered at Sitabuldi Police Station under similar sections of the BNS, Copyright Act, and Trademark Act.
