Nagpur: The Cyber Police Station of Nagpur city has demonstrated exceptional performance in combating cybercrime during the period from January 1 to December 15, 2024. A total of 144 cases of online fraud, involving ₹50.06 crore, were registered. The police successfully froze ₹28.56 crore and apprehended 33 interstate accused linked to these crimes. Furthermore, ₹3.75 crore was returned to victims after court proceedings.
Through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCCRP), 13,014 complaints of financial fraud amounting to ₹91.59 crore were addressed. Out of this, ₹18.41 crore was frozen during investigations, and ₹2.72 crore was reimbursed to victims post-legal procedures.
The department also tackled 759 complaints regarding objectionable posts on social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and Telegram. Swift action was taken to delete posts, especially those targeting women and children.
This outstanding achievement was made possible under the leadership of Additional Police Commissioner (Crime) Sanjay Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber) Lohit Matani, and Senior Police Inspector Amit Dolas. The Cyber Police team, led by Inspector Amol Deshmukh, utilized advanced technical expertise to deliver these results.
