The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a crucial notification regarding the Class 10 and 12 board examinations for 2025, which are set to begin on February 15, 2025. The board has issued strict instructions to ensure the fair conduct of exams, warning of severe penalties, including banning students from appearing in exams if found violating the rules.
The notification, directed at principals and heads of CBSE-affiliated schools, emphasizes the need for adherence to ethical practices and highlights measures to prevent malpractice during examinations.
Zero Tolerance for Unfair Practices
CBSE has reiterated the importance of maintaining academic integrity and outlined the consequences for those indulging in unfair means.
“You would agree that the conduct of fair examinations is a must in the academic interest of the students. Accordingly, a detailed ‘Unfair Means Rules’ has been framed by the CBSE. It is desirable that before the start of the examinations, all the students appearing in Board examinations be informed about the ethics of the examinations, their rules, and the instructions issued by the CBSE,” the notice states.
The board has warned students that any violation of rules will result in stringent action, including being banned from current and subsequent exams.
Key Guidelines for Schools and Students
- Education and Awareness: Schools must educate students about examination policies and the severe penalties for violations.
- Parental Involvement: Parents should be informed about the exam rules and consequences of non-compliance.
- Briefing for Exam Officials: Teachers and staff assigned for exam duties should be properly briefed on their responsibilities.
- Avoiding Rumors: Students have been advised not to spread or believe in rumors that could disrupt the examination process.
- Prohibited Items: Students must be reminded not to carry banned items to the examination center on exam day.
Revised Penalties Under the Unfair Means (UFM) Rules
CBSE has introduced a new provision under the Unfair Means Act, stating that students engaging in disruptive activities, such as spreading rumors, will face the following penalties:
- Ban on Exams: Their current and subsequent year’s exams across all subjects will be canceled.
- They will only be eligible to appear for all subjects after serving the penalty.
