The road between Koradi Naka and the railway crossing has become a big problem for drivers, especially during busy hours. Hawkers set up stalls along the road, taking up space and making it hard for vehicles to pass. When a train goes by, the situation gets worse as cars are forced to move slowly through narrow lanes, causing a traffic jam.
This road connects the highway to nearby residential areas, but it is already narrow. The encroachments make it even harder for traffic to flow smoothly. There are also no streetlights, making the area dangerous for pedestrians, especially children from nearby homes.
On top of this, the railway crossing often stays closed for 30 to 35 minutes when a train passes, causing traffic to stop completely. This leads to long queues of vehicles on both sides of the crossing. Local residents and commuters are frustrated. One commuter said, “It’s hard to get through this road, especially in the evening. The hawkers take up so much space, and with no streetlights, it’s unsafe.”
According to local daily report, hawkers along the road continue to create major traffic issues, forcing vehicles to move slowly and making the area dangerous, especially with no streetlights. A daily commuter said, “The hawkers take up so much space, and with no lighting, it’s risky.”
The hawkers sell fruits, vegetables, and other goods, but despite multiple removal attempts by authorities, they keep returning. This ongoing issue has created a struggle between enforcement and humanitarian concerns. A police officer noted, “When a train passes and the crossing is closed, managing traffic becomes very difficult. We remove the stalls, but they come back. Sometimes, we allow them to stay because they’re just trying to earn a living.”
While temporary measures are taken, the return of hawkers suggests a need for more sustainable solutions to resolve the encroachment problem.
