On February 3, 2025, the Anti-Encroachment Department of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation conducted a significant operation across various zones, targeting illegal street vendors and unauthorized constructions. The drive under Dharampeth Zone No. 2 started at 12:00 PM and continued until 9:00 PM, with the coordinated efforts of Patrol Teams 2 and 4.
The operation focused on several key areas, including the Zone Office, Sitabuldi Main Road, Jhansi Rani Square, Panchsheel Square, Mehadia Square, Yashwant Stadium area, Modi Numbers 1, 2, and 3, and Lokmat Square. The enforcement action led to the removal of illegal street vendors and shops occupying both roadsides and footpaths. A total of 25 encroachers were identified, and two truckloads of materials were seized.
In a separate campaign, Patrol Teams 3 and 5 of Dharampeth Zone No. 2 carried out another anti-encroachment operation from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This drive targeted unauthorized vendors and structures along areas such as the Zone Office, Akashwani Square, District Collectorate Office, Civil Lines, and VIP Road. Approximately 30 encroachers were affected, and two truckloads of seized materials were reported.
Furthermore, a joint operation by Laxminagar Zone No. 1 and Dharampeth Zone No. 2’s Patrol Team 1 also took place from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This drive targeted encroachments in the Zone Office, Civil Lines, District Collectorate, VCA Ground, Children’s Traffic Park, and Shankar Nagar areas. Around 30 encroachers were removed, and one truckload of seized goods was reported.
The operations were overseen by Assistant Commissioner of the Anti-Encroachment Department Harish Raut,, f Junior Engineer Bhaskar Malve and the respective anti-encroachment teams. The primary goal of the drive was to ensure the removal of encroachments and improve public space accessibility and safety for the citizens of Nagpur.
