Approximately 200 employees at four toll booths on the Mumbai Samruddhi Highway have been on strike for the last four days, seeking various benefits. As a consequence, the FastTag scanning process at these booths has been suspended, causing vehicles to incur additional toll charges. The toll is collected in phases on the highway, and with FastTag, the toll fee is directly deducted from the vehicle owner’s bank account.
Due to the FastTag scanning being unavailable, vehicles are passing without the required deductions, leading to complaints from travelers about paying extra toll charges. Specifically, passengers traveling from Mumbai to Nagpur are being charged four times the usual toll fee, with similar issues reported at the Sambhajinagar toll plaza.
The striking employees are demanding a pay raise and the adoption of service rules similar to those for government employees. This strike is causing considerable inconvenience to travelers, who are dealing with higher costs and a disrupted travel experience.
