In a major update for rail travel in Maharashtra, the Vande Bharat Sleeper, a semi-high-speed train, will soon connect Nagpur with Pune and Mumbai. Vinayak Garg, the new Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Nagpur, confirmed that the proposal for this service has been submitted to the Railway Board by the Nagpur Board of Central Railway. The proposal is under review and aims to improve travel and connectivity on these busy routes.
Vinayak Garg, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Nagpur Division, Central Railway, confirmed the development, emphasizing Nagpur’s importance in the national railway network. “Nagpur is a key junction with over 125 trains operating daily. The Vande Bharat Sleeper train service will greatly improve connectivity and convenience for passengers,” he said, adding that the service is expected to be launched soon.
The introduction of high-speed Vande Bharat Sleeper trains aims to meet the rising demand for faster, more comfortable travel on the Nagpur-Pune and Nagpur-Mumbai routes. With passenger traffic exceeding train capacity, many travelers have turned to road transport. These new trains will offer a faster, safer, and more efficient alternative, featuring modern amenities for overnight journeys. This launch is a key step in upgrading Maharashtra’s railway infrastructure.
