Hudkeshwar police have apprehended a 25-year-old man accused of the brutal murder of a 33-year-old woman, who was allegedly sexually assaulted and strangled to death inside her residence. The incident occurred on February 6, 2025, when the victim’s minor daughter returned home from school and discovered her mother lying unconscious with blood oozing from her ear.
According to the police, the 34-year-old complainant, who works as a hotel waiter, had left for work that morning, while the victim and their daughter were at home. Upon finding her mother in a critical state, the daughter immediately alerted neighbors. The victim was rushed to a medical hospital, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
Initially registered as an accidental death at Hudkeshwar Police Station, the case took a grave turn after a preliminary post-mortem report revealed signs of sexual assault and strangulation. Acting on the findings, police registered a case under Sections 103(1) and 64 of the BNS against an unidentified accused.
A meticulous technical investigation and reliable intelligence led Hudkeshwar police to apprehend the accused, identified as Rohit Ganesh Tekam (25), a resident of Kanhadevi, Parseoni, Nagpur district. Upon interrogation, Tekam confessed to the crime.
The accused has been formally apprehended, and further investigations are underway.
