The city’s long-distance running community is set to make its mark at the upcoming Khajuraho Marathon, with more than 150 athletes from Nagpur expected to participate. The marathon will be held on March 2 in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh.
The event is being organized by Nagpur-based KA Connect (Adventures And You) in collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB).
“We are hosting the second edition of the Khajuraho Marathon, and we anticipate strong participation from Nagpur. The marathon will feature various distance categories for men and women,” said Race Director Mitesh Rambhiya during a press conference on Saturday.
Race Categories & Age Groups
- 5km Fun Run: 5-10 years, 11-18 years, 19-30 years, 31-45 years, 46-60 years, and 61+ years.
- 10km Endurance Run: 15-30 years, 31-45 years, 46-60 years, and 61+ years.
- 21km Half Marathon: 18-30 years, 31-45 years, 46-60 years, and 61+ years.
All races will be RFID-timed, ensuring accurate tracking of participants’ performance.
The last date for registration is February 20, and participants will receive RFID-timed bibs, a dry-fit marathon T-shirt, a finisher’s medal, full route support, and post-run refreshments. The top three finishers in all age categories for men and women will be awarded prizes.
Historic Venue: Khajuraho Monuments
The marathon will take place near the iconic Khajuraho Group of Monuments, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its Nagara-style architecture and intricate sculptures. Built between 885 CE and 1000 CE by the Chandela dynasty, these temples are considered one of the Seven Wonders of India.
