Vidarbha in general and Nagpur region in particular, being centrally located with abundant availability of Natural Resources backed by suitable Agri climatic conditions will soon become a hub for Food Processing Industries, said Dr Sandeep Mudliar, Chief Scientist CSIR – CFTRI while addressing a Workshop on CSIR – CFTRI available technologies and expertise in food processing for adoption in Vidarbha organised by Agro Rural Development & Food Processing Forum of Vidarbha Industries Association Nagpur at VIA Auditorium, Nagpur.
CSIR – CFTRI have developed more than 400 technologies and 5000 Food Products suitable for tiny, mini, small, medium and large enterprises in the field of Millet Processing, Bakery Products, Beverage Products, Cereal Products, Convenience Foods, Fruit & Vegetable Products, Fermentation Products, Spice Products etc, informed Dr Sandeep Mudliar earlier while addressing a larger gathering of Agro Food Processing Professionals and Budding Food Technology research scholars, Farmers, entrepreneurs, consumers and academia.
Earlier Om Jajodia, Chairman – VIA Agro Rural Development & Food Processing Forum, in his welcome address said Agriculture and food have a fundamental relationship where agriculture acts as the primary producer of food, thus making agriculture the foundation for food security and nutrition globally. Nagpur Region with abundant availability of Natural Bio Fertilizers from hundreds of Gaushalas, with more than 2800 hours of annual sunshine and average 50,000 lux during peak daylight hours is a preferred destination for Fruits and vegetables closely watching and guiding the Vidarbha Farmers for effective and sustainable Agriculture Practices in Central India.
Promoting adaption of upcoming technologies for High Protein Food Manufacturing, Fortification, Plant Based Neutraceuticals, Functional foods, Pre-Biotics, Post Biotics, carbonated natural healthy drinks, Ready to cook & eat products, Rice based value-added non-traditional products like Noodles, rice millet pasta, moringa rice noodles, Soybean Protein processing for Vegan Meat, Soya Milk, Fruits & Vegetables for Pulping, Dehydrated / IQF Vegetables, Wild Edible plants, Fresh water Fisheries, Food Supplements etc are upcoming investment areas in central India, said Kapil Charan Sahoo, Project Director a Food Processing Consultant from Nagpur.
Dr Rina Saha conducted the proceedings, and Dr Kirty Sirothia introduced the guest and vote of thanks were proposed by Aniruddha Ansingkar. Sanjay Sinha, Dr P N Shastri, students from College of Food Technology from Yavatmal, farmers, FPOs were prominently present.
