The much-awaited arms of the Pardi flyover, one leading towards Wardhaman Nagar and the other onto Wathoda Ring Road, will be opened for road traffic on Thursday, announced MLA Krishna Khopde. With this, the Pardi Flyover project, including the Railway Over Bridge (RoB) and Railway Under Bridge (RuB), is now fully completed.
A formal inauguration ceremony will be held at 10:30 AM in front of D2D Super Bazar at Wardhaman Nagar, where prominent citizens like Purshottam Malu, Govind Poddar, and Raju Agrawal will join Khopde in dedicating the project to the public. Just two days ago, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis conducted a trial run on the newly completed flyover arms.
Major Relief from Traffic Congestion
The Pardi Junction, located on Bhandara Road, has long struggled with severe traffic congestion, particularly due to the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) mega market in Kalamna and the Small Factory Area on Bhandara Road, which see continuous heavy vehicle movement. The growing number of vehicles made Pardi Square increasingly chaotic, necessitating a well-designed infrastructure solution.
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) was entrusted with the project to ease traffic movement and provide relief to commuters. However, the original design underwent multiple changes, and delays due to private land acquisition further prolonged the completion timeline, causing significant inconvenience to citizens.
