Nagpur is set to host the Senior and Sub-Junior Men’s and Women’s National Woodball Tournament from March 22 to 26, marking a major event in the Indian woodball calendar. Additionally, the Woodball Association of India (WAI)has decided to introduce a National Beach Woodball Tournament from this session onwards. The announcement was made during the association’s annual general meeting held in Nagpur on Sunday.
Key Decisions at the Annual Meeting
The meeting, held at Ravi Bhavan, was presided over by Maharashtra Woodball Association President Kumar Masram. Among those present were General Secretary Ajay Sontakke, Senior Vice President Kishor Bagde, Treasurer Praveen Manvatkar, and special guest Muzammil Ahmed, President of Canada Woodball.
During the meeting, it was decided that the Woodball Federation would operate in accordance with the Central Government’s Sports Code 2011.
Team Selection & Coaching Appointments
- A training camp will be organized in Jammu and Kashmir in April to prepare selected teams.
- Five international coaches will be appointed to strengthen India’s woodball training program.
- Selection trials for the Asian Woodball Championship and the World Masters Cup Woodball Championship will be held in Nagpur
