The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Monday seized two floors of Empress Mall to recover outstanding property tax dues amounting to ₹42,42,882. The warrant for the recovery was issued and executed by the Property Tax Department of Dhantoli Zone.
The ground and first floors of the mall, built by KSL Industries Ltd., were attached as part of the action. The premises were currently in possession of Ashwin Dattatray Khanzode, who had rented them out.
According to officials, the Dhantoli Zone team visited Khanzode to inform him about the pending dues. However, when he refused to pay even a part of the outstanding amount, NMC officials proceeded to seal and take possession of the two floors.
