A battery-operated car lost control and hit multiple passengers at Nagpur railway station on Tuesday afternoon, before crashing into a pillar in the porch area, triggering panic among commuters.
According to sources, the station operates three battery-operated vehicles run by a private company to assist senior citizens and differently-abled passengers. Around 2 PM, one such vehicle was heading westward when the driver suddenly suffered an epileptic seizure, causing him to lose control. The car struck two to three passengers, leaving one severely injured with bleeding from the nose and mouth.
The situation escalated as enraged passengers initially assumed negligence on the driver’s part and attempted to assault him. However, tensions eased once it was revealed that he had suffered a medical emergency.
The railway police intervened promptly, rushing both the injured passenger and the unconscious driver to Mayo Hospital for treatment. A formal report was later filed at the railway police station.
