The Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) Nuisance Detection Squad has intensified its crackdown on public nuisances such as urinating in public places, littering, spitting, and using plastic bags below 79 microns. On Thursday (27th), the squad registered 74 cases and collected fines amounting to ₹45,900.
Among the violations, street vendors, food stalls, hawkers, and vegetable sellers were fined for unhygienic surroundings, resulting in 29 cases and fines of ₹11,600. One individual was penalized ₹100 for dumping garbage on roads or footpaths, while three shopkeepers were fined ₹1,200 for littering. Additionally, malls, hotels, lodges, cinemas, and caterers were fined ₹6,000 across three cases.
Encroachments on public roads for structures like stages or arches led to three cases and fines totaling ₹6,500. Eight cases of tying animals in public spaces resulted in ₹5,500 in fines. Workshops and garages were fined ₹2,000 across two cases. Other unspecified offenses resulted in 15 cases (₹3,000) for individuals and 10 cases (₹10,000) for institutions.
In a separate action, ₹15,000 was collected from three businesses violating advertisement and plastic ban rules. This crackdown was led by Nuisance Detection Squad chief Veersen Tambe.
