A heated controversy has erupted following allegations that historian Prashant Kortakar made derogatory remarks about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, and Rajmata Jijabai. The remarks, reportedly made during a discussion with historian Indrajit Sawant regarding the film Chhava, have sparked widespread outrage among Shiv devotees and the general public.
In response, Raje Mudhoji Bhosale led a delegation to submit a memorandum to Nagpur Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 27, demanding that a sedition case be registered against Kortakar.
Shiv devotees have strongly condemned the alleged insults and have vowed to take a firm stand against those who, in their words, exhibit a “depraved and divisive mindset.” It has also been alleged that Kortakar attempted to incite social discord by referencing Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ name and caste. As a result, multiple complaints are set to be filed against him at various police stations by the Nagarik Kruti Samiti.
During the submission of the memorandum, hundreds of Shiv devotees gathered, urging authorities to take swift action against individuals making inflammatory statements.
